This half term Lion Class have enjoyed the Memory box topic. We began by looking at Mrs Simmons’s daughters Memory box and all the things inside. We enjoyed meeting babies, toddlers and grandparents and asking lots of questions about their lives. We wrote about our first memories and compared what we can do now with what we could do in the past.
We compared old baby equipment and modern baby equipment and discussed why things had changed. Mrs Tokgoz brought in some old toys and we thought about what they were made of and had a go at playing with them. Mrs Simmons taught us some old playground songs and games.
Some of us wrote diaries and recounts as well as sequencing stories and writing our own versions of stories based on The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Whatever Next.
We have painted and drawn self- portraits and family portraits as well as making and decorating our own Memory boxes. This linked with RE and thinking about Special people and our Christian Values.
For Science we have been focusing on the Five Senses, healthy eating and hygiene. We carried out investigations by comparing and tasting baby food, putting oil and cinnamon on our hands to show how to wash germs off, guessing sounds and guessing different objects by using our sense of touch.
In Maths we have been concentrating on Place Value, addition and subtraction.
Our Year 2 Reading Gladiators have been reading some very exciting books.
