Farm to Food

On Wednesday 5th June, years 4, 5 and 6 went to Writtle University College to attend the Food and Farming day.  Scarecrows, taste-testing, birds of prey and sheep shearing – the twelfth Essex Schools Food and Farming Day has been an unforgettable event for us all.  We met a giant cucumber person and a pepper person.  We got to eat tiny cucumbers that he grew himself. We watched a sheep show and we learned that fleece doesn't burn, that why it is used for insulation in houses. One of the sheep had a fleece that could grow 3 feet long. We saw lots of other animals  like cows,  sheep, pigs,  chickens,  turkeys and ducks.  Some of us tasted pork sausage and venison, cottage a cheese, yogurt and milk.  It was delicious. It was amazing and great fun.
