School Council – Safety

SAFETY FIRST!

The Key Stage 2 School Council members enjoyed the annual School Council Conference last Friday, which was held at Maldon Town Hall. The theme this year was E Safety (a very important topic for today’s youth) and consisted of different workshops run by pupils of The Plume.  The children were taught about the importance of staying safe when using things like social media and online chatrooms and games.

Of the Conference Fredrik said “I thought it was good, we learnt that you should change your password every six months to be safe!”

Joe said “I thought it was great to meet other children from other School Councils, and I learnt to ‘report but don’t delete – reply but NEVER meet!’”

“I learnt how to be happy and safe online”, said Tilly.

Charlie commented “Never meet up with anyone you meet online, some people pretend to be someone they’re not!”

Kutay added , “I thought it was very interesting. I learnt that you should be very careful with certain games and only play the ones that are suitable for your age”.
